Procurement encompasses the actions a company takes to plan and manage supplier relationships and to obtain the services and products it needs. This includes purchasing, the ordering process itself, and payment after delivery. Responsible procurement means conducting all these activities in a way that contributes to respecting human rights and the environment.

This webinar is the last of a three-part, sequential series on Responsible Procurement.

Despite growing evidence of the link between buyers' procurement behaviour and suppliers' capacity to protect human rights, responsible procurement remains an undervalued area of action to advance human rights due diligence (HREDD). This webinar series aims to inform and enable companies looking to fill this gap and strengthen their responsible procurement practices.

Topic Focus:

The last webinar of the series centers around responsible contracting. It covers good practices for three main types of documents: general terms and conditions (GTCs), codes of conduct (CoC), and purchaseorders. At the core of the webinar will be the RCP toolkit and the European Model Contracting Clauses.Overall, the webinar aims to enable companies to draft responsible policies and contracting clauses.

Guiding Questions:

  • What are the requirements that the CSDDD sets out for contracts?
  • How does the RCP Toolkit, above all, the European Model Contracting Clauses implement this?
  • What role can sector specific clauses play and how can companies prioritize?
  • What role can a code of conduct (CoC) play in implementing this?
  • What role can GTCs play in implementing this?
  • What role can Purchase Orders play in implementing this?
  • What modifications could be needed in the context of other due diligence laws (EUDR, EUFLR, EUBR)?

Target audience: Legal, Compliance, Procurement, Sustainable Procurement, Departments in charge of HREDD implementation
