Social

The UN GCG provides practical support to participants in implementing measures in the areas of human rights, core labor standards, living wages, just transition, and gender equality.

All companies, through their work, employees, and products, are an important part of our society. This also entails the obligation to act socially responsibly and sustainably. The Social section of the UN GCD offers companies support to fulfill this special responsibility in all human-related aspects of corporate governance.

From external issues such as upholding human rights in the supply chain to internal matters like promoting equality in the workplace, all companies—regardless of their size or industry—interact with social topics. The first six principles of the UN Global Compact, as well as 11 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, address the issue of Corporate Social Responsibility, providing companies with a framework to guide their actions.

Many of our member companies go beyond this and commit to social sustainability to improve their relationships with other stakeholders and meet the growing, sometimes legal, expectations of investors, employees, and consumers.
