Governance

The UN GCG in collaboration with the Alliance for Integrity, provides practical support to participants in implementing measures in the areas of corruption prevention and transformational governance.

In a highly interconnected global economy, German companies face various geopolitical challenges: They source intermediate products, raw materials, or services, export, invest, or maintain sites and branches in countries with weak rule of law. In the context of sustainability efforts, and increasingly due to the current geopolitical situation, economic constraints, dependencies, and risk considerations present companies with various dilemmas and conflicting objectives.

Governance, or the "G" in "ESG," addresses this by describing systems and processes that establish peace, the rule of law, and strong institutions (SDG 16) as the foundation for successful business operations. This enables companies to better prepare for geopolitical risks while also contributing to improved economic conditions.
